Buttons, buttons and more vintage buttons

I recently went to the annual spring sale at Beppa + Iijepo, a local Seattle clothing wholesaler.  The owners, Becky and Gretchen, open their doors twice a year for a vintage shopping extravaganza.  They offer thousands of antique and collectible buttons, wonderful vintage textiles, trims, vintage costume jewelry, and more. The good news is they now have a website where you can contact them and get on their mailing list, so you will have advance notice of their sales.  Some photos of the spring button sale are on their site.  I picked up a few treasures this year, including...

These blown glass pearl buttons, 1800's. Rare, lighter than air, fragile, impossible to imagine them on clothing.  They were blown by hand with the pearlized coating placed on the inside of the sphere, instead of on the outside as in newer vintage glass pearls and buttons.  A tiny strand of glass creates a looped shank... Absolutely precious...

This Victorian Scrapbook, with some wonderful images, like this one...

And the spectacular pearl and rhinestone paste buttons shown in the first photo....

Plus a few other treasures that will (may...eventually...) make their way into Bumbershoot Supplies.
